President/President-Elect
President
The President is responsible for overseeing all aspects of organization activities; represents the organization at professional and public events; and provides leadership to assist movement toward the AHNA’s mission
Role Responsibilities:
- Leadership Role on Council/General:
- Attends Leadership Council Meetings.
- Attends National Conference.
- Serves as Liaison/Advisor to the Conference Planning Committee.
- Writes Leadership Council Reports.
- Performs Special Assignments.
- Writes articles for Beginnings as requested.
- Collaborates with other Leadership Council members regarding all activities.
- President’s Activities:
- Presides at all meetings of the AHNA Membership and Leadership Council.
- Assumes leadership of the Leadership Council.
- Assumes responsibility for operations, culture, and direction of the Association.
- Oversees operations of the Association in collaboration with the Executive Director
- Communicates with the Leadership Council on a regular basis in a written monthly report, and via e-mail and telephone as necessary.
- Mentors the President-Elect in preparation for assuming the office of President.
- Directs the Leadership Council’s selection of the Holistic Nurse of the Year.
- Appoints the Nominating Committee.
- Liaison to Conference Planning Committee
- Oversees the Advisory Council
- Advises all committees regarding mission and vision of the Association.
- Serves as Liaison to AHNCC or appoints someone to fill that position.
- Represents AHNA to professional and consumer groups.
- Reviews and approves all contracts prior to signing
President-Elect
• The President-Elect serves as the liaison between the Association and other organizations and associations, nationally and internationally. In the absence of the President, the President-Elect acts on behalf of the Association.
Role Responsibilities:

- Assists with National Conference as needed.
- Writes Leadership Council Reports.
- Performs Special Assignments.
- Writes articles for Beginnings as requested.
- Collaborates with other Leadership Council members regarding all activities.
Liaison Activities:
- Acts as the liaison between the Association and other organizations and associations, nationally and internationally.
- Explores collaborative partnerships with other organizations and associations.
- Designates committees to assist with liaison activities as needed.
Committee and Association Activities:
- Coordinates the following committees:
- By-laws (Chairs)
- Ethics
- Conference Planning Committee
- Oversees other task forces as assigned by the President.
- Reviews Leadership Council Handbook annually.
- Revises above as needed.
- Serves on the Finance Committee.
- Assists the President.
- Prepares to assume the office of President at the end of term.
