Program Endorsement & Endorsed Programs

The purpose of Endorsement by the American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA) is to support continuing nursing education (CNE) programs that present content congruent with the mission, vision, and purpose of AHNA, and with the Scope and Standards of Holistic Nursing Practice and the state of the science/practice of holistic nursing.  AHNA wishes to encourage the growth, through advertising and promotion, of programs exploring the integration of holistic principles, practices and modalities into the practice of nursing and to recognize those programs, which upon completion, will improve the quality of healing care nurses can provide. 

Programs endorsed by AHNA include CNE courses that foster the growth of holism.  Endorsed Programs must complete a rigorous peer-review process with consent to endorse by the AHNA Leadership Council. They must offer content based on a well-developed body of knowledge consistent with the philosophy, mission, and purpose of AHNA and the AHNA Scope and Standards of Holistic Nursing Practice.

Become an RN Patient Advocate

Certificate in Holistic and Integrative Health
The field of integrative health is growing rapidly due to the changing health care climate, a growing need for a “different” health care system, and a recognition of the benefits of combing the external, physical, and technologic successes of medicine with the internal, nonphysical exploration of healing. Clinical Aromatherapy for Health Professionals

This program is designed to educate nurses and healthcare professionals in the clinical use of essential oils in their practice.  Students gain knowledge in the application and controlled use of essential oils for specific, measurable outcomes.  This four module course encompasses the history, core concepts, research and chemistry of aromatherapy and essential oils with an emphasis on the key concepts of the use of essential oils within a health care framework. Specific references for stress, psychoneuroimmunology, inflammation, pain, insomnia, cancer, AIDS, and women's health are covered in the course.  250 contact hours.

The Great River Craniosacral Therapy Training Programs

Whole Health Educator^TM  program for Nurses with health coaching competencies

This program offers a comprehensive evidence-based curriculum which examines the physical, emotional, nutritional, environmental and spiritual cause and effect of health and disease and offers a model of relationship-centered patient education and coaching crafted for nursing professionals. 
Included are over 260 approved contact hours which may also be applied to the Holistic Nurse Certification examination requirements. Why Choose an AHNA Endorsed Program?
Endorsed Programs have a scientific research base and are already approved for continuing nursing education (CNE) contact hours by AHNA, ANCC or an ANCC accredited approver of CNE. Eligibility to Apply for AHNA Endorsement
Holistic, continuing nursing education (CNE) programs may apply for AHNA endorsement if they meet the following criteria:  The program is already established and provides CNE contact hours to nurses.  The contact hours must be:

• Approved by AHNA’s Education Approver Committee OR
  
• Provided by an ANCC recognized Approved Provider OR
  
• Provided by an ANCC Accredited Provider
