We currently have an exceptional opportunity for a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to see patients in the Emergency Department and on all services throughout the hospital as a consultant. Responsibilities include performing initial and follow-up psychiatric assessments; conducting in-depth interviews with patients to develop a plan of care; assisting in the coordination of appropriate follow-up care, referrals, and case management; initiating, renewing, and changing medications; ordering routine lab, radiology, and diagnostic tests;  and providing education and training to patients and their families.

To qualify, you should be a CA-licensed RN with an MSN and a Nurse Practitioner license with a specialty in Psychiatry.  Requires current BLS certification, 2 years of experience as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in a mental health setting, and a complete understanding of psychotropic medications, side effects, and drug/drug interactions. Experience with dual diagnosis patients and background in an acute care setting, such as an ER or a crisis clinic, preferred.

The Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (New York City Campus) invites applications and nominations for an exciting leadership position as the Program Director for a new and innovative Bachelor of Science RN to BSN Completion Program with a focus in Holistic Nursing. Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM) has been pioneering integrative healthcare education for 25 years in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, Massage Therapy, and most recently Nursing (2012).  It is the largest College of Oriental Medicine in the U.S. with campuses in San Diego, New York, and Chicago and a clinic with over 20,000 patient visits a year.  PCOM has over 200 faculty members across three campuses, a diverse student body, and is actively engaged in community outreach and involvement.  The holistic nursing program is the first baccalaureate nursing program of its kind within a complementary alternative medicine (CAM) school in the country and offers exciting opportunities for creative leadership, interdisciplinary education and collaboration.

Responsibilities:  The Director will oversee faculty and curriculum development and implementation; teaching, student advisement, obtaining/coordinating clinical practice sites, recruitment of RN students; establishment and maintenance of programmatic accreditation; and participation in departmental and School committees and activities. 

Qualifications:  1) Minimum of a master’s degree in nursing with a doctorate in nursing or a related field preferred; 2) Minimum of four years of teaching in baccalaureate nursing education or academic administration; 3) Current or eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse in New York required; 5) Certification in holistic nursing recommended; 6) Excellent communication and collaborative skills
