The American Holistic Nurses’ Association announces Holistic Nurse of the Year 2002: Victoria (Vicki) Slater, PhD, RN HNC, CHTP/I

Currently on the nursing faculty at Tennessee State University and Miller-Mott Technical School, her contributions to the art and science of holistic nursing and education span many years. She served her country for 30 years in the U.S. Air Force Reserves Nurses Corps. As a research associate at the School of Nursing, Austin Peay State University Clarksville, Tenn., she continues her research efforts into energetic healing, holism and holistic nursing. Vicki serves as a feature editor for the Journal of Holistic Nursing. Her exploration of energetic healing has resulted in numerous publications in both textbooks and journals. Certified as a Holistic Nurse, a Healing Touch Practitioner/Instructor and an Integrative Hypnotherapist, Vicki is also a Third Degree Reiki Master teacher.

Vicki exemplifies the principles and spirit of holistic nursing in her a private practice. She embodies the core values of the AHNA, incorporating the principles of the whole person (mind, body and spirit) into her work. Vicki’s quiet manner and healing presence have enabled students and patients to share in her expertise of the human energy system. She is a model for holistic living as she demonstrates balance and wholeness in her own life.
