The American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation (AHNCC)
AHNCC advances holistic nursing and nurse coaching through certification. Holistic nurses and nurse coaches promote health, wellness, and wellbeing as they facilitate their client’s growth and healing. Both certifications offer nurses a way to distinguish themselves as experts in nursing practice, education, and research. The examinations are accredited by the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification [ABSNC] and are recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center [ANCC] Magnet Program.
Holistic nursing is defined as all nursing practice that provides care for the person as an integrated, holistic human being, inseparable and integral with the environment. Holistic practice draws on holistic nursing knowledge, theories, expertise, different ways of knowing, and intuition to guide nurses in becoming therapeutic partners with clients in a mutually evolving process toward healing and holism. Holistic Nursing is universal in nature and may be practiced in any clinical setting, community, private practice, hospital, educational institution, or research foundation; with the understanding that clientsare the experts of their needs and care is always planned for and provided within the context of their culture, perceptions, values, and belief system.
Nurse Coaching is a skilled, purposeful, results-oriented, and structured relationship-centered, interaction-based role with clients based in the precepts of Holistic Nursing wherein clients are facilitated in achieving health-focused goals. Nurse Coaches are educated in advanced communication strategies, skills, and knowledge with the understanding that clientsare the experts of their needs and care is always planned for and provided within the context of their culture, perceptions, values, and belief system.

The American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation (AHNCC) and the Global Academy of Holistic Nursing (GAHN) are partnering to offer a documentary series, offered by Touchpoint Productions and Paul Steinbroner, which explores the spiritual dimensions of addiction recovery, healing and reconciliation in different marginalized populations.

Edie Brous combines her experience and passion for nursing and the law by representing, advising, educating and advocating in the interests of nurses. A practicing attorney since 1999, Edie also has deep experience in nursing, having held clinical and managerial positions in intensive care, operating room and emergency nursing. She is the recipient of the 2008 Outstanding Advocate Award, the 2017 Outstanding Litigation Section Member Award, and the 2020 Outstanding Solo Practice Section Member Award from The American Association of Nurse Attorneys (TAANA). Edie served as President of TAANA in 2011.
Edie has given presentations and written extensively in the health professions, with a focus on nursing liability prevention, documentation practices, professional licensure protection, class action lawsuits, patients’ rights, and legislative policy as it relates to nurses and public health. Much of her work has sought to raise the awareness of nurses regarding legal issues, specifically, licensure protection and nursing malpractice claims (both with respect to the nature of malpractice trials and avoidance of such claims).
