Position Statement: I envision as a strong professional organization that serves as a resource for (a) individual holistic nurses, (b) the nursing community interested in the ideals and contributions that holism, (c) the interdisciplinary holistic healing and healthcare community as we pursue global health priorities, and (d) policy makers. I would use my tenure on the LC to create strategic alliances between AHNA and other organizations, diversify continuing professional development opportunities for AHNA members, identify policy health care priorities and work to disseminate AHNA’s positions on them, and encourage scientific inquiry and dissemination activities that support holism to achieve these goals. I bring extensive knowledge about the accreditation standards and processes required for continuing nursing education and continuing professional development to the LC as one of the Education Coordinators. I bring extensive expertise in American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Continuing Nursing Education Provider and Approver Accreditation Standards having served on the ANCC Commission on Accreditation since 1993 in several capacities, including chairperson between 2004 and 2007. Previous leadership experiences with the American Nurses Association and the International Society for Complementary Medicine Research have also provided experience leading policy health policy and research initiatives as well as professional organizations for nurses and other health care providers. I look forward to working with and learning from others on the Leadership Council as we build a very bright future for AHNA.
