Lecturer at New York City College of Technology
Brooklyn, New York
Rosalyn Forbes, RN, MSCH, MSN, HNB-BC has years of experience in the clinical health arena. For the past 10 years, she has been affiliated as an educator/facilitator. Her responsibility is to formulate in the minds of the students the objectives of the course and bring diversity to the learning environment through lectures, communication techniques and writing assignments. The emphasis focuses on technology for learning and strength, and embraces effective instructional techniques. As a facilitator, in lab less time is spent on communicating knowledge and more on helping the student navigate the journey of acquiring knowledge and competence; with the help of technology. In 2006, under a Perkins grant, created designed, and decorated an ideal maternity space in the nursing clinical lab. This provided the students with real-life like teaching tools, to enhance hands on experiences, and apply theoretical concepts. In February 2010, creatively planned and designed a Pilot Lab simulation course, engaging 44, second semester students with an endocrine scenario. The pilot project showed increased evidence of student's satisfaction; fostered critical and strategic thinking, team dynamics, positive outcomes, and has cultivated community. Fall semester, continued to anchor stimulation with 78 student's recall, by linking to another scenario experience; relevant to their lives.

Apparently, positioned to solicit candidates for election requires special skills, including knowledge derived from training, experience, and peculiarities. “An application that can fit most disciplines.” However, holistic nursing is a sensational discipline that is supported by exclusively special nurses… During the great flowering of the holistic nursing era, the mind, body, and spirit was flourished and intrinsically energized. Over 40 years, there is evident of an energy healing system, and a clear correlation between holism and the supernatural, that has influenced and contributed to maintaining balance.
Today, in viewing holistic nursing, (all nurses are holistic), the range appears to be vast in numbers. However, the vast majority remain balanced on a limited scale of thoughts of old, without concerns of their incivilities. More important, the vast majority are not current in practice. It is imperative for this special discipline to penetrate the main stream of the health arena and cultivate useful knowledge for growth and survival of the nursing profession.
In focusing, and formulating a concept of holistic nursing, how it works, and what nurses are meant to do within a given space, I strongly suggest teaching a holistic course (a prerequisite to “Fundamentals”), prior to entering into the nursing program.
