Holistic Nursing Research

Holistic nurses believe that healing results in restoring, discovering and/or recognizing one’s inherent wholeness even in the face of illness, and death. Holistic concepts and values support nursing practice. They include, but are not limited to: care, presence, intuition, comfort, intentionality, love, and compassion as well as spiritual recovery and quality of life. These concepts and values need exploration in order to understand, refine and clarify how they support the healing process. Holistic Nursing Research develops knowledge and assists in providing the practice based evidence that is needed to transform health care into holistic care.  This requires dedication to developing and fostering resources that assist in creating, interpreting and conducting holistic research. We believe that all holistic nurses can participate in research by posing questions, systematically collecting information to answer those questions, and implementing the results.
