'Mental Illness and Homelessness in Lancaster County'
We are pleased to welcome Jennifer Koppel
, Executive Director of the Lancaster County Coalition to End Homelessness for our final Nightingale Initiative for Local and Global Health program of the season. Jennifer Koppel has 25 years experience in social services, specifically with mental health and homelessness. Jennifer Koppel is also the chair of the newly formed Lancaster Coalition to Combat Poverty which operates under The Universal Declaration of Human Rights Article 25: Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family. This includes food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services. This also includes the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age, or lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.
The LCCEH uses evidence-based practices to address the complexity of homelessness and has been nationally recognized for its work. It is for this reason that we've invited Jen Koppell to share how we as nurses, health care providers and the interested public can address these issues here in our community.
