I know Holistic nursing is the thread that weaves through every discipline of nursing. My passion for holistic nursing has allowed me to bring nurse executives and health care leaders together for the purpose of recognizing the value we bring to the patient's experience and honoring our practice. The time has come to bring national awareness to Holistic Nursing with a unified voice. I believe this can be achieved through advocacy, collaboration, research, and education, adding credibility to all our practice settings. I have trained over 600 nurses in holistic nursing, empowering them to incorporate holistic practices in their clinical settings, including measuring outcomes. As a previous Director of Integrative Health, my holistic nurses collected documentation in over 30,000 patients, demonstrating the benefits of holistic nursing for pain, anxiety, nausea, and patient satisfaction. We are in the perfect storm to transform health care through health creation, re-defining our roles in this new environment of health care reform. As president-elect, it is my vision to facilitate this paradigm shift to further integrate holistic nursing nationally.
