Ruth McCaffrey DNP, FNP-BC, GNP, BC, FAAN
Lake Worth, FL

My current position is with Susan Reddock Destinguisted Profesor in Holistic Nursing.  This includes teaching, researching, and acting as the service director of the Initiative for Intentional Health. My interests in Holistic nursing includes healing touch, movement therapy, aromatherapy, and music therapy.  Many of my fellow AHNA members may recognize me from giving presentations during the annual conventions.

Position Statement

I have been involved with the AHNA since 2001. As faculty at the Christine E Lynn College of Nursing at Florida Atlantic University, I have been involved in teaching holistic nurse classes and was involved in obtaining an endorsement for our program from AHNA.  Using complementary therapies like music and garden walking with reflective writing are the areas of my research. I am involved in AHNA because I believe that a holistic approach to nursing practice and education is critical to the development of a health care system that focuses on the concept of healing versus disease. I have served as a member of the AHNA Research Committee and have reviewed research grants for the association as well as volunteered for the one-on-one research meetings at the conference. I would be delighted to continue to serve AHNA as a member of the Nominating Committee for the next two years as I believe there is a wealth of knowledge and leadership capability in the membership which can be tapped to provide outstanding leadership for the organization.
