The increase in infectious diseases has interrupted essential businesses, healthcare, schools and other important services and institutions. People have experienced stress and fear around their own health and the health of their families.  The grief felt was ever-present. Financial challenges from pandemic-related job layoffs increase, and constant exposure to information about the spread of infectious diseases, both factual and false, exacerbate stress responses.
