Therapeutic Music (also called Music Medicine) and Sound Healing are practiced by non-music therapists (e.g. nurses, physicians, other healthcare professionals) who use the universal, innate and intuitive power of music in healthcare. The power and efficacy of music and sound in healing has been informed by various fields of science. With guided imagery and music, we intentionally create these connections, primarily to decrease anxiety, pain, and to catalyze a relaxation response, a place where rest and restoration can operate. Brain functions are similar when one is doing an activity and when one is just imaging it. Athletes use this to good effect to practice gymnastics and skating routines prior to performances.
If you've signed up for the IHAP course, this is included.
